I bet

  • over 50% of the posters got flash from a warez site.

  • Aww chill out guys, I said it before and I said it again.
My first version of Macromedia Studios MX, I downloaded for free, and used it for about a year. After I learned it, and started making money, I went out and bought it.

Makes perfect sense, let the students and the people learning it, get it for free, and once they grad and get jobs they will use your software, period.

  • Sounds like DanQ is looking for an intelligent discussion on the merits of purchasing software versus stealing it - not looking for a cheap flame war or to pass judgement on anyone. Is there a general forum area that might be better suited for this?

    Don't think so, tho.. :)

Not to single anyone out but what was wrong with the 30 day trial (which I am using).... But I have a friend that does something similar and he does actualy go out and buy his software. Me being a licensed business owner it is more adventagious for me to have real software (tax deductions, tec support...and no law suit). Plus I feel bad for these guys who build these great tools I make a living with...It's the least I can do is actually buy the stuff.

  • Sad but true DanQ :(

  • Actually Macromedia knows all about this, they know they can't do anything but they make their real money from businesses that have to have every product used has to be licenced which many of their products are including mine! So they don't have much of a loss considering how much it costs for them to produce a CD with the program and the packaging (even though they have to pay the programmers a lot)!

Well just felt like talking peace out!

  • Wow way to dig up a two year old thread. :P

    Cheers!

  • This is a classic example of the search button being put to great use :)

  • lol, and they know it's wrong. macromedia loses money each time someone d/ls a pirate version. after all their hard work creating this program, it all goes to waste when people get it for free. now, i find it hard to believe that some of you guys have director 8. now that stuff is EXPENSIVE. it's bout $1000. now unless your company or something paid for it or you really REALLY have the money to pay for it, i don't think you have it legally.

  • I think the general attitude of self rightousness and this holier than thou mentality about buying software is complete bull****. How popular would flash be without cracked versions? I know I wouldn't just up and buy it one day to learn. And I know that's what the eval copies are for but how much does anyone really learn in 30 days? I always use a grey version or at least a demo before I liscense the sofware or buy the bundle or whatnot. I'm also about to buy Studio MX Pro, and Visual Studio .NET 2003 Enterprise Developer so that's about $3000 usd they're about to make off of me. So really, get over yourselves. I'll come pat each one of you on the back for using only legal software, then you'll have to grow up and realize that it's a reality and it benefits the software industry. People say it costs then some amount of dollars for each cracked version, but 9 out of those 10 people just wouldn't buy the software if it came down to it so it's not even an accurate estimate. On the other hand, people can use the cracked version and then lisense the pro version when the time comes. They make their money and the kids have something to play with.

  • Heheh thats what happens when u get a nice program and 8 out of every 10 Comp user is to lazy to order it so they pyro like the cheap bastards they are lol!!!

  • What's even worse is that people are now pirating the bundles as opposed to the individual packages. I had a friend of mine offer me a copy of the Studio MX CD, but I told him, "No, I buy all my software, thank you."

You do know that they offer the software at GREATLY reduced prices to students and non-professionals don't you :sure:

In fact they are so marked down, most of the time you only pay 10-15% of the actual cost... then you can have it without being one of the other A-holes out there that won't support the companies that make products they love.

    Peace
