Delete Posts

Posted by cfz under enart.hubeidaxue.com

  • Hello,

we are looking for a possibility to leave a message in a thread, when the admin has deleted a single posting?

Is this possible with vBulletin? We can not find any information in the onlien-manuals and the FAQ ...

    Regards Nit

  • That is exactly, what I look for. How is it done? I have seen in the online Manual how to leave a "delete message" when deleting a whole thread, but not for a single post? Is it a standart feature, or do if have to programm an add-on?

  • No, I do not think it is a bug.
I just evaluated the Admin Demo, and I can not see how to do it.
As long as I am not a customer, I do not have any license number.

But since this feature will be a no-go criteria for us, I asked here in the pre-sales support.

  • Thank you both very much.

I will check this out with the admin demo.

  • If you have this question, then please note that to be able to post in the support forums you first need to register for Priority Forum Support. To do this, please go here:

    http://www.vbulletin.com/members/me...rt_priority.php (http://www.vbulletin.com/members/membersupport_priority.php)

...and enter your email address (the one you used to register on the forums) in one of the boxes. You'll need to have your customer number and password to access that page.

Note: Only Moderators and Admin can start new threads in the Bugs forums. If this is what you are trying to do you can post in the Troubleshooting forum first and if it's confirmed as a Bug, then one of the Mods will move it.

If you have done all this and still have problems, then please send an email to support@vbulletin.com with this info:

    - your forum user name
    - the email address you registered with
    - your customer number

  • Ah...okay..I couldn't tell if you were using the admin demo or someone who runs a vB board and needs support.

You can delete a single post within a thread. Simply click "edit" on that post, and select delete, and leave a message :)

Works best with a soft delete, in my opinion.

Yes, you can delete a post or a complete thread, and leave a reason. You can then, using Usergroup permissions, determine who will be able to see the post/thread placeholder, and the reason it was deleted. Some sites allow all users to see the placeholder/reason, others hide that and only show them to Moderators/Admins.

  • Are you refering to the ability to leave a reason why you deleted it? If yes, its quite possible
