Are philosophical people scared of thumbs?

Posted by smith under enart.hubeidaxue.com

  • Why does no-one here give thumbs up or down?

  • I can't give thumbs up or down yet, but soon enough i'll make my contributions i assure you -gives thumbs up- ;-)

  • Some people are just more interested in what they have to say, than in what others have said.

  • I give thumbs up for opinions I agree with instead of posting the same thing again. I give thumbs down for rude answers. Everything else is an opinion, so there can't be right or wrong.

  • I don't give thumbs down ever. If I really dislike someone's answer I still feel that that person has a right to his or her view.

I often give thumbs up. Sometimes its because the answer is just a really good philosophical response, or a genuinely felt point of view, or its just really funny. I still laugh at someone's answer to a serious question which read 'I like puppies'. It was a bad answer but very funny.

  • I think it's becasue the questions here actually make people think... as opposed to marriage and divorce. Silly questions will get thumbs because people can quickly access that, '"Hey, I think that answer was dumb" or "I think that answer was good". Here...it's more about, "I will go away and think about that one... but I won't really approve or disapprove right now...."

  • It is not fear, but rather respect...

And the fact that the questions here commonly do not have "right" or "wrong" answers; but are merely asking for opinions on ideas and thoughts.
